The cotton knit dress is named after the Hindu goddess Kali because it has 4 sleeves, as if for an extra pair of hands. Kali appears in mythology as the destroyer of demons. The four arms of the goddess represent the full circle of creation and destruction contained within her and the four directions of the world.
The lower “sleeves” can be tied in many different ways.
